
Our Historical Preservation Accomplishments
1985 and 1986 – assisted the North Carolinian Society
in the placement of two markers at the Gettysburg Battlefield
to the 26th NC Regiment
Since 1987 – the Regiment has published a historical
magazine, Company Front, which features photographs
of North Carolina Soldiers, letter collections, and
diary remembrances
2004 – the Regiment formed a formal partnership with
the North Carolina Museum of History (NCMOH) with our
first project being the fundraising for the preservation
of the 26th NC’s Burgess Mill flag…(raised $7,500)
2007 – the Regiment placed a monument to the 26th
NC Regt. on the NewBern Battlefield...(raised $27,000)
2007 – our second project for the NCMOH, the Regiment
was responsible for raising the money for the preservation
of the battle flag of the 52nd NC Regt.…(raised $5,400)
2007 & 2008
– the Regiment raised $10,000 towards the Museum
of the Confederacy project, which allowed us to be
able to bring home to the NCMOH:
(a) the 26th NC’s Gettysburg flag
(b) the battle flag of the 37th NC
(c) the coat, sword and sword belt of Major General Bryan Grimes
2008
– the Regiment was responsible for raising the money
for the preservation of the battle flag of the 47th
NC...(raised $8,300)
2009
– the Regiment was responsible for raising the money
for the preservation of the remnants of the battle
flag of the 58th NC...(raised $7,000)
Since 2004, the 26th NC Regiment has raised over $65,200 for
historical preservation, artifact loans and/or monument placement.
